The Brave New Awards Winners - 2020

If you missed it the winner of the Starburst Magazine’s Brave New Words collection is New Suns: Original Speculative Fiction by People of Colour edited by Nisi Shawl. A brilliant collection of short stories that meets the awards criteria of being brave, new and excellent words. So so good and I thoroughly recommend this!

On top of this the winner of the Inaugural Starburst  Hero of Literature Award which went to Jenni Hill the Senor Commissioning Editor of Orbit Books. It was noted that without Jenni we would not have a lot of the brave and new words we have…. Thank you!

Many thanks to the other judges on the Brave New Words panel - Ed Fortune, Russell Smith, Rebecca Derrick, Jane Hamner and Professor Esther MacCullum-Stewart! It was a lot of fun and the debate as to what makes a Brave New Words was a great one
