Helloooo 2026! New Challenges for a New Year!

Helloooo! Happy New Year!

I like to look forward not backwards so New Year’s Day for me is mich more my kind of celebration than New Year’s Eve

What do I want to focus on going forward. This year I turn 50! So I want 2026 to be

1 - Blog Features to be consistent

I’d like Wombling Along to be weekly as it’s a nice relaxing and for me informative look at what is going on in the book community. I also want the Short Shelves to become weekly too as I think they’re quite helpful to look at stories differently and I could use that to tackle a pile of books too I want to uncover….

2 The trolley and jar challenge

Carrying this over as life hit hard. I got one of those library trolly carts last year and filled it with imminent reads. They’re all still there so first aim is I want to try emptying it without adding any new books first. To aid this my Significant Other got me a surprise gift a jar of book prompts. I can open it up and choose randomly a matching read.

3 – The Hardy Perennial Shelf

Another carry over and I’ve prepped this with getting them in a form of reading order There are a bunch of authors I’ve been reading for a very very long time. It’s tradition to buy their latest and I then tend to move them to the back of the queue. One of those authors has passed away in 2024 and I feel I should release these usually enjoyable quick reads from the captivity of the TBR shelf. They don’t need reviewing this will be reading…for leisure! Am I allowed this! Who knew!

4 – Irregular features to be regular

Tying to that desire that next year I will have started my 50s I’m going to keep up the le Guin reads, re-start the Discworld and the quarter century project - at least one per week.

5 – Netgalley score to rise

I’m a bit behind after last year so head down let’s do some catch ups early this year and I should be much healthier on getting reviews out in time going forward

That should keep me in trouble for the next 12 months. How about you?
