Tidy the TBR - August Update and September Challenges

Hellooo!!

Well, a holiday can do you the world of good who knew?! We had a brilliant trip to just outside Venice there was a beach, warm seas and lots of Italian food. Full decompression and also upon a return a lot quiet weeks in work as everyone else is in holiday. Sadly, I know this won’t last next week! Now the leaves are starting to brown and the world has a back to school feeling but August has recharged the batteries. I’ve used August to do my Hugo reading and just play with reading and sorting out my schedules. I did that infamous fun of sorting out bookshelves and making my office/library/study a bit comfier (no more books on the floor) I’ll talk more about future plans next month, but it has been nice to get into some long-awaiting series I’ve been meaning to continue.

So how about that TBR challenge update?

Tidy The TBR

I’ve now got through 172 books

ARCS – 89

TBR - 82

A holiday really kickstarted my reading speed again and giving myself some reading time really helps too. Very happy It’s been balanced  between TBR and ARCS. I think you’ll also soon see some thoughts on BFS, Clarkes and World Fantasy over the coming weeks

Now my Tidy the TBR challenge picks

Back to School – Pick a book with some link to education, Dark Academia; dangerous school etc and try to not go near anyone who is transphobic…

For this I have chosen Ninth House by Leigh Bardugo who I have never read before, and it promises secret societies and forbidden magic. That sounds appropriate!

This month’s stretch goal is to read seven short stories

For this I am going to set myself The Year’s Best Science Fiction Vol 1 edited by Jonathan Strahan and I also want to read Volume 2 – both of these have waited far too long in Mount TBR

So what are you picks and as always let me know in the comments.
